16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence is a global campaign launched in 1991. The aforementioned dates, that mark International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and Human Rights Day respectively, were chosen to symbolize the correlation between causes of violence against women, and those of human rights. It also affirms that gender-based violence is a violation of human rights.
New Woman Foundation recommends to all official and non-governmental organizations, as well as local and international media that they participate in the campaign and promote eliminating violence against women.
