After a 7-year effort, the New Woman Foundation obtained special consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council, which was established in 1946 as one of the six principal organs of the international organization.
We congratulate ourselves on this win and reconfirm our firm pledge to raise the voices of Egyptian women and to defend their rights at the national and international levels.
The United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) is the main platform for promoting debate and innovative ideas, formulating consensus to move forward, and coordinating efforts to achieve internationally agreed goals. It is also responsible for the follow-up to major United Nations conferences and summits.
