The Egyptians have continued their brilliant form, qualifying for the Semi-finals of the Hong Kong Open squash tournament.
After defeating her compatriot Nour El-Tayeb in an all Egyptian game in the previous round, Raneem El-Weleily was once again successful to overcome her Kiwi opponent Joelle King 3-2 in a dramatic game [11-8, 17-15, 7-11, 8-11, 14-12].
“I have no idea how I managed to pull that one off,” Raneem said.
“I had to go for the winners as much as I could because if I played basic squash she would play a winning shot, so I had to steal it before she did. All credit to her, she played a really good match,” she added.
Meanwhile, World No.1 Nour El-Sherbini has also managed to qualify for the semi-finals after defeating her compatriot Nouran Gohar 3-0 [11-7, 11-5, 11-6].
Nour El-Sherbini will face Laura Massaro in the semis, while Raneem will be up against French World No.3 Camille Serme.
