Responsibilities

General:

–         Analyze governments’ policies related to women rights issues in the light of Egypt’s international commitments,

–         Contribute to developing NWF international/regional advocacy strategies and related materials (briefs, position papers and reports) to move government policy on gender issues through effective public engagement;

–         Identify, build, and manage international relationships and networks with partners; policymakers, opinion leaders, and relevant UN bodies, regional bodies (e.g. EU, AU)

–         Prioritize and analyze policy debates within the country and it’s impact on women rights to feed into national and international advocacy strategies;

–         Generate ideas and discussions on new advocacy or research projects that will make substantive contributions to gender mainstreaming;

–         Contribute to developing NWF national advocacy strategies in coordination with relevant program’s and unites in NWF with regards to keeping government accountable to its international commitments (treaty bodies and other UN mechanisms, and regional and bilateral treaties)

–         Represent New Women Foundation in meetings with partners in different international fora. ;

Specific projects:

–         Manage a specific project on protecting human rights defenders in collaboration with the EMHRN and other Egyptian partners. This includes:

o   Provide support and training to key grantees to enhance advocacy capacities and assist with development of organizational advocacy strategies;

o   Manage assigned budget, and ensure proper expenditure and reporting;

o   Ensure goals and timelines are met;

o   Work with the communications officer on media strategies and outreach on related issues;

o   Translate required documents from Arabic to English and vice- verse;

o   Travel as required;

o   Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualification

–         University Degree in relevant subjects (e.g. Law, Human Rights, Political Science, International Relations, etc.). Post graduate Studies in international relations is an advantage point

–         2 years experience (at least) in civil society institution in relevant areas

–         Good knowledge of the International human rights system

–         Excellent command of English and Arabic (written and spoken). Good knowledge of French is and advantage point

–         Excellent communication skills; Ability to effectively communicate information and ideas in written and verbal format, and build and maintain relationships

–         Multi-tasking, Ability to work well under pressure, and to adapt to emerging issues and changing priorities;

–         Ability to work as part of a team but also capable of working well independently

–         Willingness to travel to international meetings/consultations
